Sinus infection: If you truly have a sinus infection with yellow or green mucous that has been coming out of your nose or down the back of your throat, you likely need antibiotics. In addition to antibiotics, you should irrigate your nose with saline as this will mechanically cleanse the nose and make a lot of difference for how fast you get better. Sometime saline irrigation alone can make a world of difference.
