Maybe: Palpitations are not going to increase your blood pressure. Your blood pressure may be going up because you are anxious about the palpitations. As far as the palpitations, you should be seen and examined.

Yes, it is normal: Palpitations are commonly caused by an emotional/excitement or physical stress such as running. Most often these effects are caused by release of adrenaline which raised BP to a higher level for a short period of time. That is why we like to take BP when you are resting and relaxed so that the BP reading is more reliable and truly reflective of your BP under normal conditions. .
