I got a sore throat from my mom being sick and then shortly afterwards, i went to the dentist for the second filling in this month. i then have had swollen gums and a sore tongue, as if i have bitten it multiple times.

Sore throat: Unfair to both you and the dentist to subject him/her to your throat infection. Next time consider rescheduling elective procedures until you feel better. Swollen gums and sore tongue are not due to whatever caused your sore throat, and need to be investigated. See your Physician or Dentist for evaluation.
