Wouldn't assume it: I would never assume you had such a condition for decades. A consultation with a dermatologist may find you are right & treatment designed for that need. It may also reveal you have a hereditary nail disorder or other issue that must be handled differently. A common reason for good treatments not to cure a problem is a wrong diagnosis to begin with.
