Devoted septum: If a deviated septum narrows one side of the nose enough, or in a critical area, it can affect the flow of air and mucus contributing to nasal congestion. Septal deviation does not cause allergies but allergies can cause swelling of the nasal lining and increased production mucus that leads to nasal congestion and difficulty breathing especially if septum also deviated
