A member asked:

I have been bitten by my dog as i was trying to get him off from biting someone else. the wound is very small but everyone is advising me to get a tetanus shot. i have been cleaning the wound but it still seems to be bit wet.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Shot within 5-10 ?: Tetanus spores are everywhere and any dog bite can permit them to contaminate a wound, establish an infection and lead to tetanus. If you have not had a booster within 10 or preferably 5 years you should get one. The wound should be thoroughly cleaned and monitored. Many other germs can start a wound infection in such a site.
