Exam: This is less common than genital HPV but does occur. Examination of the tongue/tonsils and back of the throat by a doc skilled in the use of specialized mirrors or scopes can identify suspicious areas. Tissue from these areas could be sent for testing to identify DNA from HPV. This will not be transferred to others sharing a drink.
