Tretinoin: Retin-A binds to retinoic acid receptors in the skin stimulating epithelial cell turnover. It is important to use sun screen during the day if you are using Retin-A at night as this topical medicine can cause photosensitivity. It is also a good idea to use a moisturizer to reduce the chance of irritation. No need to wash Retin-A off since it is absorbed immediately.
