Thumb Contusion: Swelling with limited range of motion calls for an exam and possibly a X-ray to start

Sprain vs fracture: Repeated sprains can cause a lot of swelling around a joint and cause limited range of motion, but a fracture can do the same. An x-ray would be helpful to determine sprain vs fracture and best management. Either way, rest, ice and elevation is indicated. Please see an orthopedist as soon as possible.
