A member asked:

Any possible way cotinine could be in a blood test, when the person did not smoke , or use any nicotine products, nor be exposed to second hand smoke?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: I recall a surprising test on pee of 2 week old babies from non-smoker homes who showed this byproduct in 15% of specimens. The only way it would have got there is second hand exposure.
