A member asked:

Waiting on endo.def have gerd/esphogitis. sometimes when something hits my chest with force or pressure i can feel sharp pain in esoph. normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not esophageal: It is very unlikely that a blow to the chest cage would cause esophageal pain as the esophagus is protected by the sternum and even the trachea is in front of it. (Perhaps the discomfort comes from the rib cage). Even in the presence of esophagitis, I would find this unlikely but I would be interested in how the gastroenterologist would answer your question.
