Not esophageal: It is very unlikely that a blow to the chest cage would cause esophageal pain as the esophagus is protected by the sternum and even the trachea is in front of it. (Perhaps the discomfort comes from the rib cage). Even in the presence of esophagitis, I would find this unlikely but I would be interested in how the gastroenterologist would answer your question.
