Sounds right: If the doc can't confirm strep A as the cause of the sore throat then the issue is viral and will self heal. There would never be a need for an injection or antibiotic in such a case. The comfort meds listed are just that. They can comfort the kid until they heal and give you something to do. If the kid doesn't take enough fluids to pee every 8 hrs take her back for IV fluids.

Sore throat when drinking water, swallowing. Ear also hurts when doing this. Otherwise it just feels irritant not painful. Only right side. No symptoms eating. X-ray showed nothing. Like this for 8 weeks. What other test to discuss with doctor?
