"Hot flushes": At 49, it is usually a "pre-menopausal" variation in estrogen production by the ovaries which produces "hot flushes". This is secondary to delays in ovulation and consequent variation in estrogen levels, the "flushes" occurring when estrogen drops suddenly. It has little to do with "iron tablets".
