4 years ago i had hives and took prescription xyzal. hives are back i am taking otc xyzal 5 mg. can i take this twice a day instead of once.

That’s the dose.: Unless I’m mistaken, 5mg daily is the typical dose for that medication. If it’s not helping, then perhaps you’d need a prescription-strength remedy or an evaluation by a Dermatologist or Allergist.

Yes: I have a few patients who need 2 to 4 a day. About 10% of people will feel sedated on cetirizine, the generic Zyrtec, which is cheaper.
