No "safe" medicine: Most cold medications contain a form of amphetamine or pseudo-epinephrine which can speed up the baby's heart rate. The fetal heart rate is generally twice as fast as the mother's heartbeat. Fetal heart rates above 180 beats per minute can undergo cardiac arrest. Talk to your OB MD about your symptoms and listen to his/her suggestions.
