Neuralgia: These shooting, sharp pains are consistent with facial neuralgia. Since your pains are limited to a small area of the face, the nerve involved is a small one whereas in trigeminal neuralgia the territory is much larger. Smaller irritable superficial nerves usually quiet down on their own. A neurologist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you if symptoms persist. In the meantime, try ibuprofen.
