Bacterial vaginosis?: The main cause of strong vaginal odor, often "fishy" and sometimes with discharge, is bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of bacteria. The STD trichomonas also does this, and other STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia) are more common in women with BV. Yeast treatment might trigger BV. Return to your doctor soon for diagnosis, treatment, and STD testing if not done previously. Good luck!

Vaginal infection: After the yeast infection has subsided, the odor may be from a bacterial or parasitic vaginal infection, which may require antibiotics. See your gyn provider for an exam and cultures to determine the cause.
