If i am able to walk the same day, or day after prostatectomy surgery why do they need to put in a catheter?

Urethra must heal: During a prostatectomy, the urethra has been cut and then sewn back together. Wearing a catheter (usually for about a week) allows the sewed-together parts of the urethra to heal.
