Dark (red/black) sticky sputum for last year, worse when i first wake up and have huge difficulty trying bring it up. ?

Dark sputum: First, is this sputum from bronchial tubes or lungs, or is it mucus from the back of your nose dripping into the throat overnight? In my experience it often turns out to be the latter. Are you sleeping in a very dry environment r do you tend to have postnasal or sinus drainage problems? Are you a smoker? Consult your physician or an Otolaryngologist for proper diagnosis and treatment advice.
