A member asked:

Hi, i have insulin resistance and notice that whenever i drink coffee or take stimulant medicine i get hypoglycemia symptoms/low blood sugar.what wld be the mechanism of this? why wld it occur?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin resistance: not only affects how your insulin functions in your bloodstream, it also affects the chain of events that stimulates your liver to release stored sugar into your bloodstream when your body needs it. Because this step is impaired, you don't get the sugar released in time when you body needs it, therefore causing low blood sugar symptoms. Taking a medication and having regular meals help improve.
