Nexplanon: The Nexplanon implant uses a progestin to interfere with the ability of a fertilized egg to attach (implant) on the wall of the uterine lining. Progestins can sometimes also inhibit ovulation, but this can cause irregular degeneration of the lining cells, leading to spotting and frank bleeding. First get a serum HCG test and see your gyn provider to decide whether to continue the Nexplanon.
