Depends on factors: Suriival in heart failure is most directly related to functional status, and dependent upon the patient's exercise capabilities following a diagnosis of heart failure, their survival and life expectancy can be quite good.

Good: It does depend on the underlying severity of the heart disease and the severity of the chf. It also depends of what other medical conditions are also present.

Varies acc to cause: The majority is related to coronary disease (angina or heart attack) the degree of coronary disease determine progress of failure of the heart. But salt and fluid restriction goes long ways in keeping heart failure compensated (controlled) and that has a good effect on progress of disease.

Dr. Calvin Weisberger answered

Heart disease: The ef is the ejection fraction or the percent of the volume of blood in the heart that is pumped with each beat. It is a measure of the ability of the heart to contract. It is normally 55 to 65 per cent. Abnormal hearts can have much lower ejection fractions. The lower the ef the weaker the heart.

Heart failure ?'s: True "heart failure" will usually be a constant once having occurred. Get a referral to a cardiologist who may order what is called an ECHO cardiogram. There are other signs if there is true heart failure, but the ECHO will make the diagnosis.
