See details: Get another opinion from an orthopedist who specializes in foot and ankle arthritis. It is impossible to offer specific advice without being able to examine the foot and review x rays.

Fusion of the great : toe is fraught with complications, especially in the young active patients. To late to reverse it, best follow the advice of your surgeon or get a second opinion.
