I have a purple lump on my finger that has caused my finger to swell up and there is also a red line going down my arm which i guess is my arm. what could be the cause of this?

Needs physician exam: Any growth like you have on your finger needs to be checked by your doctor if it is more than 3-5 mm and growing. It can be infection which requires immediate care or it can be cancer which requires physician examination and possible biopsy. You could seek medical advice from your PCP or a dermatologist.
