At age "41", the follicles ( "eggs") in the ovaries require higher stimulation for ovulation to occur, and this in turn will require higher FSH production, which leads to higher estradiol. The drop in estradiol just prior to either ovulation or to your incipient menstruation will result in your symptoms. Ask your GYN physician about low dose oral contraceptives, which will alleviate these symtoms
