Treating prostatitis: Most prostatitis is not bacterial and probably not any infection, and antibiotics have no effect. They're usually tried, but often little or no help. However, sometimes an alternate antibiotic works better. If not, Rx is for symptom control, e.g. medications to help urine flow and minimize urinary tract obstruction, and NSAID if needed for pain (e.g. naproxen etc). Follow urologist's advice.
