A member asked:

Can wearing high heels cause the ball of your foot to swell?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High heels pain: Wearing High Heels increases the pressure across the metatarsal heads (balls of the feet) because of the angle of the foot. The pressure is directed forward which can sometimes cause damage. There are nerves between the metatarsal heads which can become inflamed and swell, called neuromas. Also, increased pressure under the bid toe joint can also damage the two small bones in this area.
