Things to consider: The breast makes more milk when it is stripped from the breast. Any removal of milk can prolong the wean period, but you need to survive the process and still be able to function. If you express until just soft enough to stop hurting, but not enough to trigger new milk production it should help. The med you mention is not approved for that use in the US and as many as 1/3 have side effects.
