Weight gain: Eat breakfast. Eating 3 meals a day can help. So can adding a milk or yogurt based drink in between meals or similar healthy snack with protein, carbohydrates and nutrients. Peanuts and tree nuts are another good snack food.

High Protein & Carb: Diet is what body builders use to gain weight (carb loading). I suggest you eat at least 100 grams of lean protein per day (lean meats, eggs, cheese and whey protein shakes) as well as at least 150 grams of complex carbs (fruits/veggies, whole grain starch) in 3 meals and 2 snacks.Eat some protein right after work-out plus 15 grams of sugar (milk chocolate for example).Numbers vary based on weight.

Diet and exercise: As funny as it sounds diet and exercise can also help you gain weight. Exercising builds muscle which will increase your overall weight. You need to increase your calorie and protein intake to help you body build that muscle.

Want more mass?: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a doctor can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. Proteins: egg white, chicken breast, salmon... Better fats: olive oil, peanuts, almonds, tofu....

Good question: Gaining weight in a healthy manner requires many factors like genetics, family history etc. Are you really very underweight? Two things you need to do t 1. get a complete physical exam with blood tests with your family physician to rule out any medical problems, 2. If things are normal have him/her refer you to a nutritionist who should also consult with your physician.
