I have been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. i have no other symptoms than severe shortness of breath. i had several lung tests done - all clear. topzole is making no difference. anything else i can try? should i consider surgery?

Second opinion: Hiatal hernia should not be causing shortness of breath. While surgery of hiatal hernia may be needed to address reflux, that is not likely to fix the shortness of breath. You should get a second opinion before undertaking surgery. Wish you good health!

Unlikely related &: diagnoses are routinely only names for symptoms, not underlying causes or solutions. http://goo.gl/Blh6rW Dyspnea=Shortness of breath. Hiatal hernia only means esophagus has pulled potion of stomach up through hiatus within diaphragm (comes & goes; surgery terrible track record). Topzol=proton pump inhibitor, ↓es stomach acid secretion. All these=different issues. Seek help worthy of your trust.
