Gen'l. anesthesia: General anesthesia may have minor effects for 4-6 hours after release from the recovery room intense monitoring, but once released and discharged to home, effects should be minimal. "Trapped wind" is sometimes due to insertion of the endotracheal tube into the esophagus before confirmation that the endotracheal tube is actually in the trachea. This will not last more than 24 hours post-op.
