Contagious - yes: Ringworm can be spread from skin to skin contact with another person or with an animal like your cat or dog. It can be spread on combs, brushes, towels, clothes, sheets, etc. Ringworm is contagious. I would not keep your daughter home - but start treating now.

Yes, but: The germs of ringworm are contagious but not aggressive. They are not considered a reason for school or day care exclusion if covered and under treatment.Scalp ringworm transfer can be reduced by not sharing combs, brushes or headgear.
