Common: The body will have a common reaction to such bites. Localized capillaries will act like soaker hoses & leak out serum. This is designed to dilute any material injected in the bite & delay its movement into the bloodstream. Once this fluid wall is established the tissue will feel thick & swollen. It can take a week or more for it to subside.
