Mid-cycle bleeding: Estrogen falling will produce bleeding , whether at "mid-cycle" or just at menstruation. "Low progesterone" does not cause "mid cycle bleeding". As ovaries age, it takes more stimulation to produce an egg, which also creates a higher estrogen level. This drops just before ovulation, causing some bleeding. This bleeding does not mean that pregnancy cannot occur in this cycle.
