One strategy to consider is taking the lowest possible dose right before bedtime.

Many side effects: Reported common side effects of gabapentin include: dizziness, ataxia, drowsiness, fatigue, nystagmus, sedation, fever and viral infection. Other side effects include: diplopia, blurred vision, peripheral edema, irritability, tremor, amblyopia and xerostomia.
