A member asked:

What are some of the first side effects when taking gabapentin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Order May Vary: Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and currently is also used to relieve neuropathic pain and mood stabilization (psychiatric uses are not fda approved). Most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, fatigue, weight gain, drowsiness, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities). Blackbox warning: can lead to suicidal ideation or suicide.
