CAUTION!: Unless you have been specifically told to do so or shown how to do this, it would not be advisable for you to do anything to a vagus nerve stimulator. If you have questions or concerns, call your doctor or the doctor on call for that doctor and discuss this or see your doctor soon in the clinic. If emergent, go to the er. Don't do it!

No: Definitely would not recommend doing this on your own. Please speak with your doctor.

First, NEVER try to adjust your VNS unit in any way, as you could potentially trigger a seizure. If the stimulus is too strong or intense, or other problems have emerged, the unit can be adjusted in your neurologist's office. This takes expertise and training, and is not safe to do it yourself. If unit were to truly be "turned off", it would defeat the purpose of epilepsy control.
