If you wish=do: Many childhood illnesses can be safely monitored at home. If they take in enough fluids to wet every 6 hrs, play some and stay on their regular routine the issue is likely minor. If they won't play, have difficulty feeding or just spook you, go in. I believe there is a real "mommy sense" that you just have to follow.
