I am 38 weeks pregnant. late this afternoon my skin started itching all over (feet, arms etc) and will not alleviate. there does not appear to be a rash. should i worry?

Call you obgyn: During pregnancy, any new issue should be discussed with your obgyn. Itching all over your body can indicate a variety of problems and some can be quite dangerous. Please call your obgyn immediately

Pregnancy itching: Itching late in pregnancy can simply be from swelling but it can also indicate a serious condition (and often overlooked ) called cholestasis of pregnancy. A blood test called serum bile acids can be ordered. A faster way to make the diagnosis is to start a medication called Actigall (Ursodiol). If this improves the itching the diagnosis is confirmed. At 38 weeks delivery would be indicated
