Not likely: There is not evidence to suggest that your past use of laxatives and diuretics would cause Interstitial cystitis. It is true that IC patients have a higher incidence of underlying depression and anxiety disorders though. It sounds like you are getting treatment now. Elmiron is an effective treatment for IC
