Confusing post: You get the most from this site when you provide adequate information that describes your issue and then ask a clear question. You describe a cough & mention asthma but your reference to the throat is not clear. Please start over and clarify the issue.

Viral illness : 5 month old child can have bronchiolitis but not asthma . Bronchiolitis is a viral infection of chest . Child can have fever , runny nose and ratly chest . Paracetamol, saline drops for nose can be tried . If child’s breathing fast , not eating or drinking or not wetting nappies , lethargic or as parents you have concern then please see a doctor immediately.
