Proton pump inhibito: Proton pump inhibitors (PPI) are the most potent acid suppressors. More importantly, one needs to make sure to eliminate the cause such as NSAID, high steroid dose, H pylori infection etc.

PPIs: Ulcers are usually treated for 6 weeks with a proton pump inhibitor like prilosec. If the ulcer is caused by the bacteria Helicobacter Pylori, then antibiotics are added to the PPI.
