Regular exercise: Episodic exercise causes the muscle to swell and result in the symptoms. If you exercise regularly, you muscles will swell more gradually and prevent the symptoms. Conditioning.: Shin splints arise from the smaller, weaker muscles atop the shin that are engaged to raise the fronts of our feet as we walk and run. With continued activity, such as running or playing soccer, the shin splints should subside as these muscles get stronger and better conditioned.
