A member asked:

My right fingers(spiking volleyball)has become fatter than my left. would it be permanent?if continued? would it heal to how it looked before?

Should heal: Injury from spiking volleyball is common in this sport. Jamming your knuckle or hyperextending your finger can cause your finger to swell, limiting its movement and becomes painful. Ice your finger. Ice water in glass to hold your finger in can work. Time should allow swelling to decrease, pain reduction and return to function. If persists after week see physician.

Varies: It really depends completely upon the specific nature of the cause. Could be post traumatic, or from over use, or a number of other possibilities. Don't hesitate to be seen for a specific diagnosis.
