Skipped beats/fetus: Ultrasound of the pregnant uterus will show the fetal heart rate clearly. "Skipped beats" are common, and as much to do with the ultrasound and fetal movement (losing track of the focus on the fetal heart) which provides the illusion of an irregular heart beat. This usually disappears in later pregnancy. Let your pediatrician know, however. Hot chocolate has nothing to do with this.
