Large tear.: That indicates a large tear that has pulled back far from its insertion point. May be tougher to surgically repair.

Shoulder repair: Having had rotator cuff injuries in both shoulders, a complete tear is a clear indication for surgical repair but once repaired, there may be some residual limitation of range of motion. The repair is best performed during the acute stage and is less effective once it has become chronic. One of my shoulders had a partial tear that was repaired and subsequently, progressed to a full thickness tear.
