Head pains: Sharp, shooting head pains are often due to neuralgia which is an irritable/slightly inflamed superficial nerve in the scalp and is not related to brain pathology. If the pains occur at the base of the skull and radiate upwards behind the ear, it is the occipital nerve which may be pinched or irritated as it exits the neck near the base of the skull. This is a nuisance disorder. See a neurologist

NO: If this lasts only seconds and is intermittent this may be nerve irritation or compression. Generally benign, due to scalp muscle or scalp however, I suggest a complete examination.
