PCOS: PCOS has some long term effects which are at least compensated for with low dose oral bcp's, (if no contraindications are present). Weight loss, and hopefully prevention of type II diabetes is also important, and a diet with lean proteins and minimal simple carbohydrates (with vitamin supplements) will be helpful along with regular exercise.

Not different: You lose weight when you expend more energy than you take in. Thus a low carb calorie-restricted diet along with a regular exercise program (both aerobic and weight training) for more than 1.5 hrs a week would help you to achieve your goal.

Use: Of Metformin if indicated, exercise, drinking more water, eating healthy small meals, reducing carbohydrate or simple sugars and high fiber diet. If BMI greater than 30 and if no contraindications your doctor may use appetite suppressants
