Multiple Causes: Cough in general is caused by post nasal drip, reflux, asthma, infection or other pathology. An evaluation by a Physician can help determine the correct diagnosis, treatment and appropriate studies that should be done.

Need to examine: Cough persisting more than two weeks needs to be evaluated by a doctor and TB needs to be excluded in particular.

Mgt.: I would recommend an evaluation. This may include treatment for inflammatory changes and asthma. If there is a fever, she may have developed bacterial complications.

See a Doctor: I would need more information about your wife (ie, does she smoke, have asthma, recent exposures, other symptoms like shortness of breath / wheezing) and listen to her lungs to make a more accurate assessment of what ay be causing her condition. Given the duration and severity, she should see a clinician asap. Take Care!
