Hi, our 17 month old boy has a wet cough for over 2 weeks now. he coughs mostly at night and early morning when he wakes up. we have been giving him cortisone for 4 days now but it still persists. should we wait longer and hope that it will pass?

Most likely URI: Persistent cough in a 17 month old for 2 weeks can be as simple as the common cold. It can also be caused by viral induced bronchospasm, particularly if the cough is dry and worse at night. An inhaled or oral steroid may help. Also an inhaled bronchodilator may help as well. If there are any persisitent fevers, weight loss, or loss of appetite, see you pediatrician.
